Unlike many
of the most recognized cigar brands manufacturers on the market, Alec Bradley
has only been in business for 25 years and has no tobacco tradition.
Alan Rubin,
his founder, came from the nut and bolt business but really what he wanted was
to sell cigars. In 1996 he decided to follow his passion and founded Alec
Bradley Cigar Co., an enterprise to produce cigars, which he named after his
two sons, Alec and Bradley, who were kids at the time.
His entry
into the business was not very successful and, before the new millennium began,
he was on the verge of bankruptcy. However, with his innovative temperament and
strength to overcome obstacles, he set out to establish the right partnerships
and managed to obtain the quality cigars that allowed him to settle in the
premium cigars industry with a wide and varied portfolio of brands.
The true
recognition of the company really began after they incorporated the Tempus Line
in 2007, which was successfully marketed around the world and secured them a
respectable name in the handmade cigar market.
Two years
later, using exclusively Central American tobacco and from a very dark layer
leaf grown in a region of southern Honduras called Trojes, he created a blend
called Alec Bradley Prensado that produced a great impact from its arrival on
the market. This line was created for the first time to pay tribute to Cuban
traditions in the way of making cigars. Like most Alec Bradley cigars, it was
produced at the Raices Cubanas factory, located in Danli, Honduras, a lush,
mountainous region known for making cigars.
In 2011,
Cigar Aficionado magazine awarded Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill the coveted
“Cigar of the Year” designation, helping to propel Alec Bradley's journey into
the tobacco world faster than he expected.
Today, with
the presence in the company of Rubin's two sons, Alec, 28, and Bradley, 25, the
company is moving into a new phase. Maintaining their father's legacy in the
business values ??that identify them, but with the intention of experimenting
with new products, the two young men created their own brand Alec &
Bradley.
The results
are promising as just three years later, they were ranked No. 7 in the 2020
Cigar Aficionado Ranking. The award-winning cigar was Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper
Robusto 2020 and was manufactured in collaboration with industry veteran
Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo, in whose factory in the Dominican Republic it was
produced until 4 months ago.
At this
time and since then, Gatekeeper production has moved to the Plasencia factory
in Honduras, a decision that was made for logistical reasons due to the general
increase in demand for cigars in the United States.
In our store we have a wide variety of these excellent cigars. We invite you to try them and we are sure that you will enjoy them very much.
